Capitol Complex includes the Capitol Building, the Howlett Building,
the Stratton Building, the Illinois State Supreme Court, the Illinois

Located
approximately seven blocks from Lincoln Tower, Springfield is very
proud to have this new addition to our downtown landscape. This

Lincoln's

The Old State Capitol Building -- Downtown

The original Capitol Building to be built
in Springfield is located approximately five blocks from Lincoln
Tower. This building is where Abraham Lincoln's "A House Divided" speech
was first delivered. The building is still adorned with the original
furnishings, artwork and ambiance as if it were still in use. The
marble slab that carried President Lincoln's coffin is also located
in this building.

This is the office that President Lincoln practiced
law before entering the political arena-located directly outside
of the South entrance to the Old State Capitol Building.
Vachel Lindsay's House -- 603 South 5 th Ph.

Mr. Lindsay is another celebrated
son of Springfield. His poetry and art publications will last for
decades to come. The Lindsay family purchased this house in 1878
from Abraham Lincoln's sister-in-law. Vachel was born there in 1879;
this is the only home Vachel ever knew. This house sits right next
to the Governor's Mansion, located two blocks from Lincoln Tower.
The
Dana Thomas House -- 301 East Lawrence Ph. 217-782-6776
This
house was the 72nd design by world-renowned architect, Frank
Lloyd Wright. Built in 1902, this house-museum is a one of Springfield's
finest jewels; the house contains the largest collection of site-specific
art glass and furniture. The home has 35 rooms in the 12,000
square feet of living space, which includes three main levels
and sixteen varying levels in all.

Each medical facility has a very respected national reputation relevant to their area of expertise and they make up the foundations of Springfield's Medical District.
