The Illinois Capitol Complex -- 2nd and Capitol Ph. 217-782-2099

Lincoln Tower is located in the heart of the Capitol Complex. The Capitol Complex includes the Capitol Building, the Howlett Building, the Stratton Building, the Illinois State Supreme Court, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Attorney General's Office.

The Governor's Mansion -- 410 E. Jackson Ph. 217-782-6450
Located just east of Lincoln Tower, the Governor's Mansion is a beautiful backdrop to a stunning sunrise that you will enjoy from one of Lincoln Tower's east side apartment homes.

Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum
Located approximately seven blocks from Lincoln Tower, Springfield is very proud to have this new addition to our downtown landscape. This complex is scheduled to open early in 2005.

Lincoln's Home -- 8th and Jackson    Ph. 217-492-4241
This is the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned; President and Mrs. Lincoln were very proud of this house and considered Springfield to be their hometown. Located within walking distance from Lincoln Tower--approximately five blocks away.

The Old State Capitol Building -- Downtown Mall    Ph. 217-785-7961
The original Capitol Building to be built in Springfield is located approximately five blocks from Lincoln Tower. This building is where Abraham Lincoln's "A House Divided" speech was first delivered. The building is still adorned with the original furnishings, artwork and ambiance as if it were still in use. The marble slab that carried President Lincoln's coffin is also located in this building.

The Lincoln/Herndon Law Office -- 6th and Adams Ph. 217-785-7960
This is the office that President Lincoln practiced law before entering the political arena-located directly outside of the South entrance to the Old State Capitol Building.

Vachel Lindsay's House -- 603 South 5 th    Ph. 217-524-0901
Mr. Lindsay is another celebrated son of Springfield. His poetry and art publications will last for decades to come. The Lindsay family purchased this house in 1878 from Abraham Lincoln's sister-in-law. Vachel was born there in 1879; this is the only home Vachel ever knew. This house sits right next to the Governor's Mansion, located two blocks from Lincoln Tower.

The Dana Thomas House -- 301 East Lawrence    Ph. 217-782-6776
This house was the 72nd design by world-renowned architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. Built in 1902, this house-museum is a one of Springfield's finest jewels; the house contains the largest collection of site-specific art glass and furniture. The home has 35 rooms in the 12,000 square feet of living space, which includes three main levels and sixteen varying levels in all.

This is a multi-purpose center that can house very small to very large conventions, concerts, trade shows, etc.

Memorial Medical Center, St. John's Hospital and SIU School of Medicine --These facilities are located approximately one mile from Lincoln Tower. Each medical facility has a very respected national reputation relevant to their area of expertise and they make up the foundations of Springfield's Medical District.

State-of-the-art medical facility which houses more than 60 physicians and surgeons from 15 specialties. The facility is one of the newest buildings in the Springfield Clinic family.

Prairie is nationally recognized as a leader in cardiovascular care. Springfield is one of the almost 30 clinic sites in Illinois. Also national leader in innovation and development of new diagnostic and treatment procedures, as well as having a very active research program.  

Shopping and Dining/Entertainment

Downtown Springfield has many opportunities to shop and eat. You will find many privately owned boutiques with items that range from very fine men's clothiers to your neighborhood "nick-knack" shop and everything in between. The dining opportunities are vast as well from upscale, fine dining to very casual pizza and tacos. Downtown Springfield also offers a great selection of entertainment ranging from summer festivals to nightclubs and pubs.

Springfield Center for the Arts --420 S. Sixth Street Ph. 217-523-2787
Located just three blocks from Lincoln Tower, this center houses the Springfield Arts Council; Springfield Theatre Guild; the Prairie Art Alliance Gallery; the Springfield Ballet Company and many more cultural organizations.   This center is an exciting, new addition to Springfield's landscape.
